Efects are very good still today! Real! This film looks very good.

Fellowship of the Ring is not best of trilogy. Return of the King is best, but Fellowship of the Ring reach near.

The WORST part of this movie was seeing Elijah Wood ALWAYS LOOKING OVER HIS SHOULDER WITH BIG BRIGHT EYES. HOW INCREDIBLY VOMIT-INDUCING. br>
There are a few other bad parts of this movie. Cate Blanchett takes it beyond over-the-top as Galadriel. I pictured someone with incredible beauty leading the armies of darkness in her little spiel, but the FX guys just ruined it. Grrr. the wizard fight isn't spectacular. Maybe in some flashy Hollywood movie like The Matrix. And the wonderful theme of saving the environment... Jackson does it so subtley that few can realize it.
This film has it's highlights though. The prologue is SPECTACULAR. Sauron wasn't quite what I imagined him, but a helluva lot more scary. Viggo Mortensen is well-caste, so is Orlando Bloom and John Rhys Davies. Sean Bean is more than I imagined Boromir to be. But by far the best member of the cast was Ian McKellan. He truly is Gandalf, and I can't wait to see him as Gandalf the White.
